We offer two main types of surveying services.

2D Perimeter (area) surveys and
full 3D topographical/contour surveys.

The 3D contour survey has significant advantages over the less revealing 2D Perimeter survey. By its very nature, a 3D model provides visual clues that a 2D map cannot. By adding the 3rd dimension, items like profiles,
cross sections, hydrology, slope and elevation analysis can all be revealed
to the reader. This data can also be rendered and have buildings and roads applied to it - photo realistic images, standard industry practice
for marketing and sales.

All our surveys are carried out with Leica GS20 Geospatial GPS survey stations and Leica WILD DC10 10 precision theodolytes.

GPS and associated errors - do they apply?

It is important not to confuse our GPS survey equipment with the common hand held navigation devices commonly found in most out door pursuit shops. Hand held ‘rambler 'GPS' units retailing at a fraction of the cost of surveying units give a well known and publicised error of approximately 30 meters horizontally and are designed to give the user a general location overview rather than an absolute location.

Our units are tailor made for precision surveying purposes, and through several complex error reduction protocols and use of multiple reference and triangulation geometry, the distance error is reduced many times over to 10mm horizontal and 60mm vertical.

Further, we do not solely rely on GPS for our survey datum. We continue to verify data with standard precision theodolyte instrumentation, traditional grid set up methodology, error adjustments and other standard practice surveying techniques.
